Kalology

The brief:

To create new planting areas which would bring all year interest, a choice of plants for easy maintenance, a bright sunny border by the patio at the back of the garden and a quiet serene area by the conservatory. Somewhere to feel safe and enjoy the dappled shade.

The result:

I created a private and functional space using hard landscape materials which reflected and complimented the stone of the house. The area by the Conservatory is now a beautiful space which has a organic feel which I accomplished by using soft cool planting in colours of green, blue, purple, pink and white. The foliage varies from soft delicate to pointed vertical leaves in different shades of green. The low growing plants soften the edges of the paths and paved areas and others bring height for visual interest when viewed from the conservatory. The walls bring permanency, security and are wonderful sculptured pieces in their own right giving a wonderful back drop for the plants. This is a place where you feel safe, hidden and at peace. A visually unifying and poetic composition which highlights the quality of the light.
